1. What is it?
|
Up
|

professionals to join-in the OctoSoft Franchise
Program OctoSoft Franchise Program is a franchise

|
2. Clarifying what does a (Franchise) really means
|
Up |
As a marketing and business strategy, franchising is one of the most popular
choices available to aspiring small Investors/Franchisees. Essentially, a
franchise is an investment in a pre-existing marketing plan and brand
"OctoSoft". When an Investor/Franchisee joins a franchise program” he or she is
actually entering a contract with the parent company/Franchisor "OctoSoft" that
allows him or her access to the company's distribution system, national
marketing schemes, and a well-established brand. In return, the parent
company/franchisor, "OctoSoft" retains the exclusive right to sell the
investor/franchisee its services/products, marketing materials, and brand
identity. It also retains the right to withdraw its approval for using that
brand if the franchisee violates the contract. One common misconception about
franchise businesses is that the business Investor/Franchisee is “buying a
franchise” from its parent company/Franchisor "OctoSoft". In fact, the
Investor/Franchisee is investing in the parent company's/OctoSoft's image and
brand to generate profits for him/her-self and also for OctoSoft. The concept is
relatively simple. The business investor/Franchisee gets to sell a
service/product that is already known to be successful, with a very competitive
price and has the added benefit of working within a pre-existing infrastructure.
The parent company/Franchisor "OctoSoft" maintains control of its brand image,
which gives it a certain amount of control over the actions of the franchise as
a whole.
|
3. Mass production Vs. Re-Inventing the wheel
|
Up |
OctoSoft provides a diversity of services/products that is all ICT-Centric, such
services/products are the result of our extensive R&D "Research and development"
efforts of high-caliber engineers and IT professionals. The unrelenting R&D in
the edge technologies combined with the fact that we sell the same
service/product multiple times for multiple clients enables OctoSoft to sell
quality services/products at the mass production price-tag. Which sums up one of
our key advantages over our competitors -who in many cases- are faced with the
challenge of creating an entire e-Business solution from scratch and going
through every pitfall of stabilizing that business-solution. Moreover, the
competitors are essentially obliged to price their work at a much higher rate
than OctoSoft. The competitors have to do that because they are Re-Inventing the
wheel and they have to cover up their costs while OctoSoft depends on a gigantic
code-library that enables it to deliver services/solutions at the price-tag of a
mass production.
|
4. International vs. Local
|
Up |
OctoSoft adopts a proven-to-be-successful business model, in which OctoSoft runs
all its R&D operations in regions of the world where highly-skilled developers
are available at a very economic cost. In this model, -for example- OctoSoft
have operates multiple "Production/Development" centres in Egypt. The cost of
developing software or e-Business solution in Egypt is just very economic, even
that OctoSoft is committed to the highest international standards of
service/product quality. On the other hand, OctoSoft sells (most) but-not-all of
its services/products in regions of the world where the clients' economies are
much higher "for example North America and Western Europe". And, hence, they
have much larger budgets to invest in the ICT-Centric services/products that
OctoSoft provides. The targeted clients can-and-will afford to buy the Edge
services/products provided by OctoSoft.

5. How it works?
|
Up |
- It all starts after the inauguration of the Franchisee "i.e. after the recruitment & training processes are completed (Which by the way is TOTALLY FREE! "Except for the costs of marketing material "less than US$ 100 to cover the costs of Brochures, CDs, Business Cards ...etc." there is no fee for the franchise license or training. Both are free till January 2007). If the franchisee is in the sales side "Account manager" then, he/she is required to scout the market in which he/she intends to run the operations within. The first phase is defining client needs (Businesses needs), gathering competitors' data & analyzing market trends under the guidance of OctoSoft. The franchisee is then ready to prepare a list of target clients and start contacting them to offer the services/products of OctoSoft. At this point the OctoSoft Account Manager "Franchisee" will be required to contact the client via phone and/or via email and/or in person, prepare written offers and presentations. Basically to be able to Contact/Negotiate/Sell the services/products of OctoSoft
- Once the client (who is usually a business owner or an employee at a top-management/decision making position) is interested enough, the Account Manager starts analyzing and pin-pointing the needs of the client then chart it and list it in a report that he/she would send via email to OctoSoft Headquarters to request the (Cost-Of-Development)
- At this phase, the Account Manager (Franchisee) is free to markup the price-tag as much he/she likes (in many many cases the Account manager "Franchisee" was able to generate profit as high as 60%-80% of the final price-tag that he/she personally set. This literally translate to thousands of US $ or Euros bearing in mind that OctoSoft would charge the (Cost-Of-Development) + (10% of the final price-tag) + (the money transaction fees to be delivered to Egypt). The Account Manager (Franchisee) is required to pay his taxes and other government expenses according to the laws and regulations of his country. While OctoSoft is required to pay taxes and other government expenses according to the laws and regulations of Egypt ONLY.
- The Account Manager "Franchisee" when doing the process of markup, must bear in mind that the price-tag "must" be competitive and strategically positioned as not be too-high nor too-low, so it would best support the professional image of OctoSoft as an international corporate and also compelling enough to facilitate negotiating or directly closing the deal at the markup "or near markup" price-tag
- The Account Manager follows the rules and regulations of OctoSoft Service/Product Delivery, which is; the client is required to pay 50% upfront, and 50% upon delivery of the final version of the Service/Product. The Account Manager would process the money transactions to OctoSoft at both events (Signing and Final-Delivering) wiring OctoSoft its "Share" at each event and according to the previously mentioned "Revenue-Sharing-Structure"
- The Account Manager would be required -in most cases- to implement the OctoSoft service/product at the client's location and train the client and/or his employee(s) and provide customer/technical support to that client. Also the Account Manager is required to create and maintain a long-term business relationship with the client, and follow up with the client on periodic basis to facilitate potential sales in the future (creating and maintaining a repeat-client-base)
- In the case the Franchisee is a (Production/Development Centre), the Franchisee would wait for RFP "Request for Proposals" from the Account Managers, and if the Account Manager decides that he/she likes the "Cost-Of-Development" and the deal is closed with the client. The Franchisee "Production/Development Centre" will revenue from cashing-in (100% of the Cost-Of-Development) + 5% of the final price-tag. In this scenario, the Franchisee (Production/Development Centre) generated revenue from 2 sources; the first source of revenue is the "Cost-Of-Development" which covers up all his costs plus reasonable profit. The second source of revenue is the 5% of the final price-tag. That incentive alone could be worth thousands of US $ or Euros when selling the service/product to a client located in North America or Western Europe. In this scenario the Franchisee "Production/Development Centre" pays his own taxes according to the laws and regulations of Egypt. In the case of a Franchisee who is a Production/Development Centre, the Franchisee will totally abide to the rules and regulations set by OctoSoft including all Hiring/Firing of personnel, Code-Library sharing, OctoSoft Production/Development protocols, Code-Of-Conduct, Quality control & Quality Assurance, Data & Systems Security, Industrial Safety ...etc.
|
6. Case Study
|
Up |
The following data considering the name and location of the Franchisee and the client are fictional; however, the rest of the case study is a valid example that highlights OctoSoft business model
Mr. John Smith, From Palo Alto, CA who has recently joined the OctoSoft Franchise Program, went through the entire assessment phase, and qualified to be an OctoSoft Franchisee (Account Manager) after finishing his training. Kindly notice that he didn't pay a dime for a Franchise license or Training to become an Account Manager "All Courtesy of OctoSoft".
Mr. Smith executes OctoSoft standard procedures to "scout" the market in Palo Alto, CA. After mapping the local market is complete, and Business-Intelligence procedures have been taken to pin-point clients who need, or will need "OctoSoft Services/Products". Then, the approach towards clients starts by contacting them via phone/email or both to set up business meetings to present OctoSoft Services/Products to them (OctoSoft Business-Intelligence Procedures dictate that the Account Manager would research/analyze the specific needs of that specific clients before even meeting with him/her.
The Account Manager is required to brief the client about the Services/Products provided by OctoSoft, its benefits, its key advantages, its competitive price rates and the positive impact of implementing OctoSoft Services/Products on the ROI of the client's business. In this scenario, the Account Manager researched/analyzed the client's business needs before meeting him/her, but, however during the business meeting itself or later communication via phone/mail, such needs are subject to change/adjustment to best-fit the client's business needs that may arise during further discussions/negotiations).
The Account Manager charts and lists the needs of the client which is for-example, a complete e-Business solution for a Car Rental Agency. The client in this case needs systems and sub-systems to stream-line the Car Rental business using technology. In this case the Car Rental Agency would need a web-front, that introduces it to its customers, enables them to view & select from available cars, schedule when they want to rent it, process the entire operation using credit card transaction online. "Making the entire business internet enabled is becoming more than just a modern trend but is certainly becoming a compelling standard for doing business in general". The solution also gathers different data about customers of this agency (Data-Mining), produces a diversity of "Valuable" reports to the Owner/Manager/Decision-Making-Employee(s) of the agency "Business-Intelligence" giving them many reports on market trends "what kind of people? (Gender and age) rent what kind of cars? At what times of the year? And for how long? ...etc. The database of the customers can be manipulated to send greeting cards or brochures and offers or even alerts for events to existing clients or new ones (Hence, retaining existing customers and adding new ones). Besides the obvious Marketing, Data-Mining, Business-Intelligence and CRM "Customer Relations Management" sub-systems. The solution also includes sub-systems of HRM "Human Resource Management", Accounting, Scheduling, and Inventory Control & Logistics. From the Investment vs. Revenue point of view, all of these systems are "Essential" in today's world where everything is dependant on technology to stream-line businesses one way or the other. Most importantly, this solution can-and-will cut down the operational costs of the agency, and will also increase its revenues by creating repeat customers and adding new ones easier than before. Hence, the service/product is truly "valuable" to the client.
The Account Manager would then send the charts and lists of the client's needs, and request the (Cost-Of-Development). OctoSoft would forward this RFP "Request for Proposal" to 3 of its (Franchisees) Production/Development Centres. The 3 Production Development Centres would reply offering a total of 3 figures for the (Cost-Of-Development) one for each Production/Development Centre
OctoSoft would then select the best offer "usually the lowest figure" since they all run the same and standard OctoSoft policy that insures high-quality services/products. Assuming that the best offer was (EGP 10,000) which is less than (US$ 2,000), The Figure is sent as it is to the Account Manager in Palo Alto. The Account Manager would consider the "Cost-Of-Development", the competing companies who provide competing services/products, the taxes and other expenses he/she have to cover, the 10% franchise royalty that he/she would have to send to OctoSoft & most importantly the estimated budget of the client who is buying, and the ability to negotiate the best possible deal with the client. After doing all these calculations and taking every issue into consideration, the Account Manager markup the price-tag 5 times the "Cost-Of-Development" and closes the deal with the client "the Car Rental Agency" at (US$ 10,000)
The Account Manager, cash-in (US$ 5,000) upfront at contract signing with the client, and another (US$ 5,000) after delivering the final version of the service/product. At both events (The contract signing & service/product deliver), the Account Manager would wire "OctoSoft Share" to Egypt according to the approved (Revenue-Sharing-Structure). After signing with the client, the Account Manager is required to follow-up the Production/Development of the solution until the delivery date, where the Account Manager would be required -in most cases- to implement the solution, train the client, and provide after-sales customer/technical support.
The Revenue-Sharing-Structure is OctoSoft Headquarters would cash in 10% off the final-price tag which is (US$ 1,000) plus the (Cost-Of-Development) which is about (US$ 2,000)
In this valid case-study, the (Franchisee) Account Manager earned revenues of (US$ 7,000) "But he/she still have to pay his taxes according to the laws and regulations of his country on that sum of money and he/she also have to pay the fees for wiring (US$ 3,000) to Egypt
In this valid case-study, The (Franchisee) Production/Development Centre earned revenues of (US$ 2,000) "according to his own calculations this includes profit after covering up all his costs" + 5% off the final price-tag which is (US$ 500) this adds up to a total of (US$ 2,500) about (EGP 14,000). The (Franchisee) would only be required to pay for his taxes according to the laws and regulations of Egypt
In this valid case-study, The (Franchisor) OctoSoft made only 5% off the final price-tag, which is (US$ 500), about (EGP 2,500) a more than fair share for its (Diamond-Value) Franchise Royalty
